To the Moon and Mars within our lifetimes.

It seems that we might be returning to the Moon and travel to Mars within our lifetimes.
That is amazing. Check the following links for more info:
Read a more detailed story about the future international space station orbiting the Moon here: http://www.popularmechanics.com/space/a25872/nasa-cis-lunar-orbit/ and here:
http://russianspaceweb.com/imp-2017.html
While orbiting the Moon in a deep space outpost may be exciting it makes sense to have a base at the surface too – check the cave for potential inhabitants:

The small space station orbiting the moon may seem small and the Bigelow inflatable modules can help improve that:

And because bigger is better here is Elon’s vision for the Big F Rocket (BFR):

You know – 42!
Before we land on Mars we need some postcard perfect pictures:

I remember watching the moon landing when as a ten year old standing in my grandparents bedroom in a village in Bulgaria at the border with Serbia and Romania (that’s where the small black and white TV was perched on a small table) behind the back of all our neighbours. Someone (maybe my grandfather) lifted me up and stood me on a chair. I can’t describe it. You have to experience it.

Seneca benefits

Among the numerous faults of those who pass their lives recklessly and without due reflexion, my good friend Liberalis, I should say that there is hardly any one so hurtful to society as this, that we neither know how to bestow or how to receive a benefit. It follows from this that benefits are badly invested, and become bad debts: in these cases it is too late to complain of their not being returned, for they were thrown away when we bestowed them. Nor need we wonder that while the greatest vices are common, none is more common than ingratitude: for this I see is brought about by various causes. The first of these is, that we do not choose worthy persons upon whom to bestow our bounty, but although when we are about to lend money we first make a careful enquiry into the means and habits of life of our debtor, and avoid sowing seed in a worn-out or unfruitful soil, yet without any discrimination we scatter our benefits at random rather than bestow them. It is hard to say whether it is more dishonourable for the receiver to disown a benefit, or for the giver to demand a return of it: for a benefit is a loan, the repayment of which depends merely upon the good feeling of the debtor. To misuse a benefit like a spendthrift is most shameful, because we do not need our wealth but only our intention to set us free from the obligation of it; for a benefit is repaid by being acknowledged. Yet while they are to blame who do not even show so much gratitude as to acknowledge their debt, we ourselves are to blame no less. We find many men ungrateful, yet we make more men so, because at one time we harshly and reproachfully demand some return for our bounty, at another we are fickle and regret what we have given, at another we are peevish and apt to find fault with trifles. By acting thus we destroy all sense of gratitude, not only after we have given anything, but while we are in the act of giving it. Who has ever thought it enough to be asked for anything in an off-hand manner, or to be asked only once? Who, when he suspected that he was going to be asked for any thing, has not frowned, turned away his face, pretended to be busy, or purposely talked without ceasing, in order not to give his suitor a chance of preferring his request, and avoided by various tricks having to help his friend in his pressing need? and when driven into a corner, has not either put the matter off, that is, given a cowardly refusal, or promised his help ungraciously, with a wry face, and with unkind words, of which he seemed to grudge the utterance. Yet no one is glad to owe what he has not so much received from his benefactor, as wrung out of him. Who can be grateful for what has been disdainfully flung to him, or angrily cast at him, or been given him out of weariness, to avoid further trouble? No one need expect any return from those whom he has tired out with delays, or sickened with expectation. A benefit is received in the same temper in which it is given, and ought not, therefore, to be given carelessly, for a man thanks himself for that which he receives without the knowledge of the giver. Neither ought we to give after long delay, because in all good offices the will of the giver counts for much, and he who gives tardily must long have been unwilling to give at all. Nor, assuredly, ought we to give in offensive manner, because human nature is so constituted that insults sink deeper than kindnesses; the remembrance of the latter soon passes away, while that of the former is treasured in the memory; so what can a man expect who insults while he obliges? All the gratitude which he deserves is to be forgiven for helping us. On the other hand, the number of the ungrateful ought not to deter us from earning men's gratitude; for, in the first place, their number is increased by our own acts. Secondly, the sacrilege and indifference to religion of some men does not prevent even the immortal gods from continuing to shower their benefits upon us: for they act according to their divine nature and help all alike, among them even those who so ill appreciate their bounty. Let us take them for our guides as far as the weakness of our mortal nature permits; let us bestow benefits, not put them out at interest. The man who while he gives thinks of what he will get in return, deserves to be deceived. But what if the benefit turns out ill? Why, our wives and our children often disappoint our hopes, yet we marry—and bring up children, and are so obstinate in the face of experience that we fight after we have been beaten, and put to sea after we have been shipwrecked. How much more constancy ought we to show in bestowing benefits! If a man does not bestow benefits because he has not received any, he must have bestowed them in order to receive them in return, and he justifies ingratitude, whose disgrace lies in not returning benefits when able to do so. How many are there who are unworthy of the light of day? and nevertheless the sun rises. How many complain because they have been born? yet Nature is ever renewing our race, and even suffers men to live who wish that they had never lived. It is the property of a great and good mind to covet, not the fruit of good deeds, but good deeds themselves, and to seek for a good man even after having met with bad men. If there were no rogues, what glory would there be in doing good to many? As it is, virtue consists in bestowing benefits for which we are not certain of meeting with any return, but whose fruit is at once enjoyed by noble minds. So little influence ought this to have in restraining us from doing good actions, that even though I were denied the hope of meeting with a grateful man, yet the fear of not having my benefits returned would not prevent my bestowing them, because he who does not give, forestalls the vice of him who is ungrateful. I will explain what I mean. He who does not repay a benefit, sins more, but he who does not bestow one, sins earlier.

It seems that Putin has done it again! ! Suspecting the US of threatening to unleash biological weapons?  There is a perfectly logical explanation why the US military have to send harmful bacteria all over the world.

Angela Merkel - Hero or Idiot?

Reuters: U.N. migration chief says Angela Merkel is a hero. http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIwzJiq3yg

She caused a lot of harm to the refugees by misleading them that they will all be welcome in Europe and then backtracking by resolving to confiscate their valuables, send them back to the poor countries they come from and paying huge money to Turkey to take care of them. Obviously the UN fat cat is happy with her policy that will only create more refugees and misery. The human traffickers are happy too. Hail frau Merkel - Europe thrives under your skirt!

Capitalism or Socialism?

Probably all these capitalist/socialist concepts are a bit rusty. Them th mothball them :) Actually capitalism as in Marx no longer exists the bigger capitalists are the pension funds and now the US, Chinese and EU governents seem to comepete with them so we no longer have the old cigar sucking tall hat, pot belly capitalist nor fatique-clad communist (save for Fidel and Kim:).
I believe we are moving towards a world where our well-being will be governed by free markets regualated by liberal(meaning deomcratic and safeguarding the rights of minorities) and accountable institutions.

Truth

Those who acknowledge, seek and find the truth are not mad but bound to succeed because their actions will be more in tune with reality. Yes life can be "maddeningly" incomprehensible but that's part of its challenge and beauty.
Societies were not given. We create them and mold them to suit our needs.
There are no West and East rights. Rights are universal regardless if you acknowledge them or not.
Keeping out anarchy and society's best interest was the argument used by nazis an communists. It's at best hypocritical and in reality criminal. There is no other interest than individual, private interest and cooperative action can only be based on combining these private interests. Society is nothing more than its members.

Idiots

Idiots are inevitable. They are part of us. Stupidity is part of human nature and will remain so in foreseeable future. I don't advocate compromise with criminals. Criminals are to be put away. Criminals can be Americans, Jews, Arabs, Puerto Ricans even Bulgarians that doesn't make them any different.
By cooperation I mean real cooperation between people genuinely set to help each other not from some imagined altruistic motives buy to promote their own self interest. People can achieve great things only in cooperation. Alone we are no better than monkeys.
I don't intend to abandon civilization because of a bunch of criminals whose actions will ultimately lead to their demise because we want let them have their way.
It's not "us" and "them" it what's right and what's wrong.

Albert Einstein

""A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe,' a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation, and a foundation for inner security"

"Never regard study as a duty, but as the enviable opportunity to learn to know the liberating
influence of beauty in the realm of the spirit for your own personal joy and to the profit of the
community to which your later work belongs."

"Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts."

"Teaching should be such that what is offered is perceived as a valuable gift and not as a hard duty ."

"Try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value."

"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge."

Why?

Why don’t I pay more attention to my inner feelings to find out what we really want and then work passionately and patiently to achieve it instead of flying like a plane on autopilot with no course set up?
Why don’t I pay more attention to the feelings, passions, dreams and plans of the people around me so I can find how can I help them and how they can help me an find time to tell them so and more importantly listen to them ?

Sacrifice

There is a beautiful song by Elton John: Sacrifice where he sings It's no sacrifice at all... It's the best love song I've ever heard. Love might bring you pain but don't confuse it with sacrifice, it's not sacrifice, you're in it not for anyone's benefit but your own. It's all about you. And it's your responsibility. Yes it affects others but we can live together, love each other and work together towards common goals only if we know exactly what we want for ourselves, if we value ourselves with all the self-worth we are entitled too and it's a lot because God created us in their image. No less. So if I have this precious gift from God and if I honor God I can’t give it to someone else. It belongs to me it was given to me and me only and it's unique. And if you don't believe in God feel free to substitute God for Nature it's just the same.

Iran or Mexico? Which is a bigger foreign policy and security problem for the US?

I can't get rid of the impression after all the Iran hysteria in the media that it all plays in the hands of the Iranian hardliners. That gives the opportunity to pose as saviors against an imaginary American aggression. Anyway who cares about Iran. They have a nuclear and missile research program but are far from producing anything useful and it is possible that if Russia pulls the plug it will all fizzle out.
On the other side Mexico seems to slide if not straight into the hands of criminal cartels then in the best scenario into anarchy. Mexican drug cartels manage to kill more Americans than any Iranian connected group and frankly I believe that if the Iranians were anywhere near a nuclear bomb or a proper missile the Israelis would have bombed them by now.
I believe democracy and development in the world is of primary concern. France, Germany, Japan, and even China have far more developed nuclear and missile technology yet pose no threat (I simply don't know where to place Russian in this context: better technology than China but less development an I don't know how democracy in both countries can be described if at all). Why then Iran is a threat? Why Mexico? I believe because they are not democratic, not developed and most important their development is not tied up with the US economy the way China, Europe and Japan are.

Identity

I think identity is a thing of the past. I'm more interested in who (not what) a person is. But many people cling to and find illusionary security in some imagined national, religious, racial, class, caste or neighborhood belonging.
We only belong to ourselves. Anything else is from the devil used for exploitation by unethical personalities.
It's only individual identity that matters and that one is particularly hard to define. Maybe that's why many people prefer to adopt a ready made prefabricated one.

Fear

You can only fear what you don't understand. If you know what it is you'll find a way to deal with it no matter how scary. Rule from fear is based on the ignorant and forces ignorance on the rulers too that in turn brings their demise.
Arrogance is ignorance. Acknowledging errors and learning from them is the path to wisdom.

Globalization, New World Order, World Government and Prosperity

You can only be in charge of your own fate if you work towards it. It's not the government that gives you freedom you have freedom as a birth right but have to work constantly for it.to materialize.
Generally I believe that there should be no difference between the US government and a future World government like there is no much difference between the government of California and the US government though their is a difference between the Governor of California and the President of the US. That’s why I thing all cries against globalization and new world are unfounded and foolish. We can only fear what we don’t know. What we create ourselves cannot be scary for if we don’t like it we can remake it.
A proper government is essential for prosperity. The only proper government is a democratic government so the only legitimate world government is the one that helps us preserve and further our rights to life and the pursuit of happiness and if not we bring it down and forge another that will do that. I don't see any problem here. Tell me if I am wrong?

I believe:

I believe:
-That we people can only survive by cleverly pursuing our own interests.
-That the most intelligent way of pursuing one's interest is by cooperating with others.
-That stupidity is not a harmless quirk to be ridiculed, but a crime against humanity
-That life is a precious gift that we must strive to make better
-That to do so everyone must first know oneself one's deepest desires which are divine sparks of inspiration to guide us towards our purpose.
-That by striving to make one's life better you can truly appreciate this precious gift and love yourself, because how can you love your neighbour as you love yourself if your love for yourself is negligible, but if your love of yourself rises to the sky then your love for your neighbour could be just as great.
-And there is no greater profit for yourself than having the love and support of your neighbour the alternative being indifference just as death is indifferent or worse bent to harass or even destroy us which is the biggest danger because if his intelligence or not.
Because intelligence is bound to tend towards cooperation not conflict and war!

Life as I Want It

I guess no one is really happy with this world order but that's what we created.
It's not perfect and it's up to us to fix it.
It is likely that while fixing it we won't get it quite right again and will find things that need improvement. That's OK. Actually that's what makes us human. Finding fault and making life better all the time :)
No one knows what the future holds for us but it's up to us to steer it in the direction we want it to go.

China and Russia Facing Tough Choices

China’s unique experiment 30 years successful capitalist development under the rule of the communist party. Bearing in mind the capitalist development was with massive US help and the communist party was very open minded unlike others it worked.

On the other hand Russia disbanded the communist party altogether but suffered from criminal privatization and political instability to swing towards stronger central government reclaiming its stake in the economy.
Now with falling oil prices the Russian government won't be able to bribe the population into submission and will face popular protests.

With economic stagnation in the US and other major markets Chinese leaders face the same predicament.

From the way they manage this precarious situation will depend the pace of recovery for the rest of the world. Or not?

The Rhino

A young keen student went to a wise teacher in China and asked: "Esteemed Teacher, please show me how can I achieve enlightment?" "Climb to the top of that mountain," said the wise teacher. "And pray. But whatever happens don't think about the rhino!" "What's a rhino?" asked the baffled would be student, for he wasn't very bright. "Oh, it is a big anymal with a formidable horn on its' nose," said the clever teacher. "But you shouldn't worry because we are in China and it lives in Africa thousands of kilometers away."

So the student climbed the mountain settled down and tried to pray. But all he could think of was the rhino.

So often unfounded fears keep our mind of the important things in life...
